D License

D  Coaching Courses

*Candidates need to be registered one week prior to start of course to allow pre-course assignments to be completed.

Coaching courses need to have at the maximum of 36 participants for class. 

 

~AVAILABLE COURSES~

1st weekend - March 3-5, 2017

2nd weekend - June 10-11, 2017

Classroom & Field Location: Vanguard School, 1605 Corona Ave, Colorado Springs, CO

 

1st weekend - March 10-12, 2017             

2nd weekend - May 20-21, 2017

Classroom Location: CSA Office, 4643 S Ulster St, Ste 250, Denver, CO

Field Location: Rooney Road Sports Complex, 151 S Rooney Rd, Golden CO                       

 

 

D Course Information

The US Soccer “D” course is a 36 hour course designed to build on the teachings of the “E” Coaching Course.  The curriculum is designed for coaches working with players in the Intermediate Stage – players 13 and 14 years of age.

 

“D” Candidate Learning Objectives:

-Develop the core coaching competencies necessary to effectively teach the 13-14 year old athlete and team.

-Understand the characteristics and needs of an athlete in the Intermediate Stage of our Long Term Athlete Development Model.  

-Build on  a foundation of knowledge and experience in order to proceed through the sequence of coaching development courses.

 

“D” License Specific Target Outcomes:

-Understand and effectively apply the principles of Long Term Athlete Development.

-Demonstrate competency in planning an age appropriate training sessions and Micro Cycles for a competition and a season.

-Understand concepts and recognize the principles of attacking and defending in an 11v11 game environment.

 

Prerequisites:

-Candidates must be 17 years of age and have successfully completed their US Soccer “E” Coaching Course at least 6 months prior to the start of the D Course.

 

Testing/Course completion:

-Candidates are required to complete written exams, an oral exam, and an on field candidate coaching test.  Candidates must attend all sessions.  Candidates will receive a grade of “National D” or a “State D” at the completion of the course.  A “National D” allows the candidate to proceed to a US Soccer National “C” Coaching Course.

 

Cost:

-Starting July of 2016, the E and D course registration will we be presented thru the US Soccer Digital Coaching Center (DCC). This change will force an increase in the cost of the courses. E Licenses will be $150 and the D to $250. The registration thru the DCC will offer benefits currently not available to course participants.
