coaching licenses

There are two USSF National Coaching Licenses that CSA offers: the D License and the C License. These serve as the final tiers within the Grassroots portion of the US Soccer Coaching License Pathway.

The B License and above are administered by US Soccer. They are included below for informational purposes.

  • The National D License is a 40-45 hour course held over two weekends, at a minimum of 4 weeks apart. This is designed for grassroots coaches that meet the prerequisites outlined below. The focus of this course is to facilitate the improvement of the candidates in the six tasks of a coach across the Grassroots Modules, with a particular emphasis on coaching training sessions. Candidates that register for the D License are expected to attend the meetings on both weekends.

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
A unique combination of the Grassroots Modules represent the prerequisite to register for the D License. Specifically, candidates must have completed a minimum of three Grassroots Modules in the form of two in-person (IP) courses and one online course.

    • Two IP Grassroots Modules (one of which must be the 11v11 module)

    • One online Grassroots Module across the four levels (4v4, 7v7, 9v9, and 11v11)

If the candidate previously earned the F or E License (which have been done away with), the following criteria must be met:

    • F License, plus the Introduction to Grassroots Coaching Module, plus two IP Grassroots Modules (one of which must be the 11v11 module)
