Purpose: Developing the next generation of Colorado referees

Goals: To develop more referees and keep referees engaged in the program; provide opportunities for development of referee mentors and coaches in alliance with the new US Soccer referee coach development pathways; support the ODP program through officiating.

Program is held in conjunction with the USYS West Region ODP camp

Structure: During the sessions, Referee mentors and coaches will observe and work with the referees. The afternoon consist of a 1.5 hour classroom session on various topics including a recap/analysis of morning games. At the end of the cycle, each referee would receive written feedback on their progress and assisted in setting goals and a development plan going forward.

Typical Daily Schedule:

  • 8 am – arrive at field for game assignments
  • 8:30 am – 1 pm: games
  • 1 pm – 2:30 pm: lunch on your own
  • 2:30 pm – 4 pm: classroom session

Number of participants per cycle: Referees – 15 - 18 daily
Instructors/mentors – 3 to 5
