birthdate verification

Requirements

As a member of US Youth Soccer, it is a requirement that all players playing in CSA leagues have a verified date of birth. This means that a member of our staff must view a government-issued document with the player’s name and date of birth. Through this process, we can also verify if the player in question has to go through the International Clearance process. Click here to read more on International Clearance.

This process is required by US Youth Soccer and enforced by Colorado Soccer Association. This is done to ensure that all players are age-eligible and are not illegally playing in a younger age group.

Documents

The following documents are accepted:

  • State-issued birth certificate

  • Driver’s license or state ID card

  • US Passport

  • Green Card or Permanent Residence Card

The following documents are NOT accepted:

  • Hospital-issued birth certificate (not government issued)

  • Social Security Card (no DOB listed)

  • School ID card (not government issued)

  • Vaccination records

If the player does not have any of the above approved documents and only has a foreign birth certificate or foreign passport, the player must go through the International Clearance process to be approved and verified. Click here to read more on International Clearance.

Process for Getting Verified

There are two options available for parents to get their youth player verified.

  • Option 1: Upload a scanned copy or picture of the document into Sports Connect.

    • Click here for a walkthrough on a parent/guardian uploading the birth certificate in Sports Connect.

    • Click here if you are a club admin/registrar uploading a birth certificate into Sports Connect.

    • PLEASE NOTE: This is the most secure method outside of visiting our office and having the document verified in person. Once the document is uploaded into Sports Connect, it is encrypted and no one outside of CSA staff members have the ability to view the document. Once uploaded, the document can only be deleted from the system, never viewed. Once the document is verified, the document can be deleted at any time.

  • Option 2: Visit the CSA office in person.

    • Bring your approved document to the CSA office and have the document and birthdate verified by a member of our staff. A copy is never held at the office. Once it is verified, you are able to leave the office with the document still in hand.
