Kelly Brown Named PROGRAM Director of Colorado Select by Colorado Soccer Association

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Englewood, CO – April 16, 2024 – The Colorado Soccer Association proudly announces the appointment of Kelly Brown as the new Director of the Colorado Select Program. With over a decade of coaching experience at the national, regional, and state levels, Brown brings a wealth of expertise and a proven track record to this prestigious position.

Proven Leadership and Extensive Coaching Background

Kelly Brown has dedicated 14 years to coaching within the Olympic Development Program (ODP), where she has served as National Team Assistant Coach, Regional Team Head Coach, and Colorado State Team Head Coach. Her deep involvement in the ODP underscores her commitment to developing elite soccer talent and preparing players for the highest levels of competition.

In addition to her significant ODP roles, Brown is the current Head Coach for the Northern Colorado Rain FC in the USL-W League, where she leads a team comprised of elite players playing with the USWYNT, professional leagues domestically or overseas, NCAA DI and DII programs, and top high school standouts looking to make the next step in their playing careers.

Kelly Brown has distinguished herself in collegiate and youth soccer, demonstrating a remarkable ability to develop competitive teams and elite athletes. Her coaching career spans over a decade, with significant roles including:

  • Head Women's Soccer Coach, Regis University: Revitalized the program to achieve a 19-8-1 record, leading the team to a conference tournament finalist position for the first time in over a decade.

  • Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach, University of Colorado: Contributed to the team reaching the NCAA Tournament twice, achieving the highest national ranking (15th) in 2018 and setting program records in goals, assists, and total points.

  • Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach, Colorado State University: Played a pivotal role in launching the inaugural women's soccer team, leading to three consecutive NSCAA Team Academic Awards.

Brown expressed her enthusiasm about her new position, stating, "I have always been a big fan of ODP and true believer in playing with new players, learning how to compete and show well in an evaluation-type environment, and the way it pushes players out of their comfort zone to embrace new coaching styles. I am passionate about elevating this program so it serves a greater purpose of bringing players together from all over the state and putting them in a position to be identified and selected to represent Colorado, the West Region, and eventually the United States. We will have the best coaches, curriculum, and program model to provide an incredible environment for players to develop, be evaluated, and enjoy their time with Colorado Select.”

"Kelly’s proven leadership skills and her deep commitment to sports and education make her the ideal choice to lead our program," said Nate Shotts, CEO of Colorado Soccer Association. "We are confident that her comprehensive experience and visionary leadership are exactly what the Colorado Select needs to thrive and produce the next generation of soccer stars.”
