Olympic Development Program Expanding to Western Slope

Greenwood Village, CO (December 10, 2015) – The Colorado Soccer Association (CSA), the governing body for youth soccer in Colorado, has announced the expansion of the Olympic Development Program (ODP) to the Western Slope of Colorado. Prior to the expansion of the program, elite youth soccer players had to travel to the Front Range for tryouts, practice and trainings. Top male and female youth players from the Western Slope have been invited to tryout, train and possibly become part of the 2015/16 pool team that represents Colorado, and Region IV in national tournaments across the United States in 2016.

To date, approximately 200 invites have been sent to Western Slope male and female players born in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004. Tryouts are slated to be held in March 2016. These are NOT open tryout events, each event is INVITE ONLY. Invited players have demonstrated that they are able to compete against some of the best youth soccer players in the state.

About ODP
The Olympic Development Program continues to offer Colorado’s elite players opportunities for added development and player recognition. The program is designed to recognize, train, and promote elite players from Colorado Soccer. Players are invited to ODP tryouts based on club recommendations, participating on teams in the high-level competitive leagues of Colorado Soccer, or from being recognized by state staff. Tryouts lead to16-18 players being selected for a team in each age group to represent Colorado at the Region IV ODP Championships held January 7-10, 2016 in Phoenix, Ariz. After the championships, teams will continue to train and prepare for events in May and June, where they will have the opportunity to be selected for invites to the Regional Camp in summer 2016.
